Project Description

Buildings
Dyer Environmental Controls were delighted to be installing life-saving smoke ventilation systems as part of the impressive regeneration of 12 high-rise blocks in Eccles, Manchester.
Dyer provided systems for 5 blocks at Barton Village, 5 blocks at Ladywell Green and a further 2 blocks at Southway and Charter. The high rise improvement programme by City West Housing Trust is working with customers to deliver a cost effective, energy efficient solution for the future.
Systems
Smoke Ventilation is a very important consideration in a high-rise development as it is the smoke that inhibits escape and rescue.
Dyer’s smoke ventilation system installed at Cawdor House combines CDC chain drives across 9 floors with 2 smoke windows on each floor. The CDC chain drives are proven to be industry-leading in low-noise, fire-rating and low power consumption.
By linking with the fire alarm, individual floors can receive a signal which will trigger the windows open through the use of the compact and highly innovative RZN 4503-T smoke ventilation control panels.
An RT 45 breakglass switch is located in the lobby for convenience of both triggering and resetting, as well as providing valuable system status information.
By far one of our most simple but highly effective systems.
