Project Description

Dyer were asked to remove and replace an existing roof vent and natural smoke ventilation system at Stanshawe Court, a residential block in Reading. The original roof vent had been damaged by strong winds and needed to be replaced. The previous natural smoke ventilation system had not been maintained and had therefore failed.
System
Dyer supplied all external access for safe roof working before removing and replacing the broken roof vent with an EN certified dome vent. Dyer then went on to completely replace the failed natural smoke ventilation system, resulting in a compliant EN 12101-2 certified solution.
F100 certified dome vent
The EN 12101-2 certified F100 dome vent is an ideal solution for smoke ventilation applications. The GRP upstands are insulated with polyurethane hard foam, and feature a weatherproof sealing system. The wind deflectors will prevent smoke from re-entering the building.
In case of fire, the dome vent will open automatically, drawing the smoke up and out. This will keep escape routes free for evacuation and provide access for the emergency services.
